Types of Computers in the Market

Types of computers

There are a number of computer options to select from in today's computer and technology market. Today, computers come in different sizes and styles. Current computers are made in a way that they fit people with different needs and requirements. Apart from the initial desktop and laptop computers there are other types of computers available on the market. Netbook and tablet PCs computers are now available, and a number of people are using them for different purposes.

Netbook PCs

Netbook PCs are similar to small laptops and are primarily meant for travel. They are smaller and lighter when compared to the standard laptops. Netbook computers do not have in-built DVD or CD drives, and their storage space is less. Netbook PCs requires less computing power and are relatively cheap. Netbook PCs perform basic computing activities e.g. word processing and Internet surfing.

Laptops

Coming to the laptop computers, they are solely meant for placing on the lap of a person. What distinguish a laptop from a desktop is the size, structure and mobility. Although laptops are mobile devices, they are not meant for travel. However, laptops are more convenient than desktop PCs.

Tablet PC and convertible laptops

A tablet is a compact single-screen device. Instead of using the traditional keyboard in desktop and laptop PCs tablets use a stylus or finger touch. General uses of tablet PCs are media playing, sending email, reading among other uses. Tablets come in two design namely convertible tablets and slate tablets. On the other hand, a convertible laptop is similar to a tablet PC. The keyboard of the convertible laptop can be folded to form a touch screen tablet. It allows on to use a stylus or touchscreen.

Desktop PCs Vs laptops

A desktop computer primarily stays in one position. The size and components of a desktop computer do not allow for easy moving. However, the system of a desktop PC is stronger and more powerful than that of a laptop. Laptops are mobile and more convenient than desktop PCs but upgrading laptop hardware is nearly impossible.

Laptops Vs tablet PCs

The primary advantage of a tablet over a laptop is the weight. Tablets are light, and you can use them while walking unlike laptops which require you to sit down while working on them. Tablets are useful when one is in a conference since they can be laid down. In today's computer market there are laptop tablet PCs which are basic tablets but have a keyboard and mouse attached to them. You can use them vertically as a traditional style laptop or use them as a tablet.

Save Money While Sounding Like A Huge Corporation With Hosted PBX

Traditionally, large offices bought or rented equipment known as a PBX, or public branch exchange system that allowed them to run complex, in-house telecommunications systems with features such as an automated attendant, voicemail, and call-transferring. These systems are often expensive to install and maintain, requiring equipment and labor. With advances in technology, hosted PBX systems have become available that do not require any investment in equipment. With a hosted PBX, all telecommunications services traditionally handled by a PBX are now run off-site, with the end-user simply needing a phone with a standard number.

With a hosted PBX, when a call comes into your business's number it is immediately routed to the host's PBX system, which can be anywhere in the world. Their system answers the call and the automated attendant offers options to the caller on who they want to reach. Depending on their selection, the call is either sent to voicemail, which is also handled by the host's PBX, or forwarded to the appropriate number.

One of the best features about a hosted PBX is the ability to have calls forwarded to any phone, anywhere in the world. Employees can work from home or on trips as if they were still at their desk. All that they have to do is program their currently available number into the PBX, and the call will find them. With some services, employees can even input multiple numbers so that the calls ring their office first, then their cell, and so on, eventually finding them. With hosted PBX you get a truly virtual office.

Because the cost of equipment is shared by many in one of these systems, the features offered are often far better than what you would find with an on-premises PBX. These services include advanced call forwarding options, automated attendants, and voicemail, among other features.

How does this system work? A call placed over the phone, or public switched telephone network (PSTN) is routed to the service provider's equipment. Their equipment then routes the call to the appropriate destination, either internally through voicemail or e-fax, or back over the PSTN to your office, where the phone with the appropriate number is rung. Of course, as previously stated, that number can actually be anywhere in the world. If the number is answered, the call is transferred. If not, the call is sent to the voicemail that is internal to the host's system.

One important feature is the holding queue, a feature that is not standard and comes usually with the higher-end services. With this feature, the host's system will hold the call until it is ready to be answered by the appropriate extension. Often, callers can choose to leave a message instead. This is a feature you don't want to do without.

Another key feature on higher-end systems is automatic call distribution queues. These ACDs monitor employee calling times and route traffic more effectively. Callers spend less time on hold, and calls are more evenly distributed amongst employees. More effective call routing means happier customers and employees.

Tablet PCs Vs Other Computers

Tablet PCs are fast gaining popularity and they are the new in thing in the world of technology. With a tablet one is able to do more as compared to when he or she is using a netbook. The size of a tablet is smaller thus it is easier to carry around unlike laptops. With tablet PCs one can easily do their job while walking. Some people prefer using tablets as opposed to eReaders since they accommodate eReaders application and programs and other applications.

A tablet PC works the same as a laptop but it is smaller in size and it does not have the traditional keyboard style of the laptops and other desktop computers unless one chooses to attach it. Tablet PCs are typically flat screens which have a virtual keyboard appearing on the screen. For inputting applications one has options provided to them. One can either choose to use a stylus pen or touch using fingers. However, almost all of tablets available have multi-touch features used for zooming, flipping of pages and scrolling through.

Due to the rising popularity of the tablets many companies are rushing to produce their own version of the tablets. In today's market there are diverse versions of tablet PCs from world renowned computer manufacturers.

Use of touchscreen has also played a critical role in the rise of tablets as the preferred option of computer enthusiasts. Touch and multi-touchscreen features allow one to have a variety of options that do not come with keyboards. Tablets that use stylus pens often recognize handwriting. Touchscreen features make a computer more user -friendly since they are perceptive. Using a stylus or touchscreen often brings a lot of enjoyment to a user as opposed to using a traditional mouse and keyboard.

Although tablets are user-friendly they have some demerits. A tablet is more often than not more expensive than a laptop but the prices are slowly going down. The lack of keyboards make typing input levels in tablets lower than with other computers. However, tablets come with additional keyboard accessories. Another demerit of using the stylus and touchscreen features is that there is a risk of damage to the screen. The fact that a tablet can be carried around also presents tablet PC users with a risk of damage from unwarranted impacts.

The rise in use of tablets is set to increase with more and more people choosing them as their preferred computers. Unless a new age of computer comes up, the tablets will remain top of the class in computers and technology.

USB Web Key or USB Flash Drive

Pretty much everyone knows what a USB flash drive is and most people will use one on a regular basis. USB flash drives are brilliant for storing and carrying large amounts of data around; they're small, portable, attractive and easy to use and it's for these reasons that they have become a particularly "hot" promotional item.

Companies love them because they know when they print their brand or logo on them that they will almost always get used not just once but time and time again. By pre-loading files onto them like sales brochures, presentations, media files, price lists etc. they are able to deliver significant amounts of useful information to their prospective customers in a highly cost effective manner - and of course the on-going usage of the flash drive gives them long term brand exposure.

Whilst the price of USB flash drives continues to fall with some now costing below ?2 per unit (printed and data loaded) this is still too expensive for some companies. A cheaper alternative, and a solution some companies are opting for is a USB Web Key.

USB web keys look just like a regular USB flash drive - they have a USB connector on the end and they come in the same range of body styles and shapes that USB flash drives are available in. The primary difference between them is a USB flash drive has internal flash memory that you can read/write data to and from whereas a USB web key has no memory so you cannot store files/data on it.

Although Web Keys have no accessible memory they can store a single website address. So, when you connect the Web Key to your PC or Mac it will automatically start the default browser used on the PC and load up the webpage that is stored on the web key. The web page it starts could be a company website home page, a competition page, a Facebook page or it could deep link to a particular product page on a web site.

As an example if a company was launching a new product then they could distribute USB web keys in the shape of the product or printed up with details of the product and embed a web link to a landing page on the product - this landing page could supply details of the product, links to media files, links to pricing and tech sheets, links to Twitter and Facebook to allow the customer to follow further updates on the product and so on.

Whilst a USB web key does not have a compelling reason to keep it and reuse it on a regular basis it is a great way to get prospective customers to visit your web site where you can then get them to register and sign-up for further (on-going) information on your company and its products and services.

They are also relatively inexpensive and if you choose a small, thin design then they can be posted out using standard "Letter Post" rates rather than much more expensive "Packet Post" rates.

If you've been given a web key curiosity is likely to mean you are going to use it and you are going to visit the web site pre-loaded onto it. With web tracking and analytics in place its also pretty easy to track the click-thru's and work out the effectiveness of any campaign that uses a USB web key.

Investing in the Right Sustainable ICT Can Make All the Difference

Perhaps the simplest way for schools to invest in sustainable ICT is to take adequate steps to protect their equipment against theft. The best way to secure laptops, netbooks and tablets, is in a lockable cabinet, and, complete with charging facilities, laptop trolleys or laptop carts are perfect for this purpose.

For optimum security, schools should select a mobile laptop charging cabinet that is constructed of reinforced steel, rather than wood or plastic, and one that features unpickable security locks. Designed to resist crowbars and cutting equipment, steel trolleys can reduce the risk of both opportunistic and organised theft. They are also far better able to resist the wear and tear of classroom use than those made of other materials, reducing the likelihood that schools will need to spend money replacing these charging trolleys due to damage or theft.

In addition to protecting their valuable resources from theft, schools should also seek ICT equipment that can be upgraded over time to ensure their ICT is sustainable. Laptop charging carts that use pre-configured charging cables are a popular time-saving option in many classrooms, but schools risk enduring unnecessary costs by neglecting sustainability. Only charging trolleys and charging cabinets that feature a modular design are truly sustainable, because each individual charging module can be easily upgraded so that the charging leads are changed when a school purchases new laptops. As a result, these charging carts can save schools a considerable amount of money because they will not need to purchase a new charging cart every time they replace their laptops, just simply change the charging leads.

Modular laptop trolleys can be adapted as a school's needs change. Not only can modules be altered to suit a new make and model of laptop, but bays can be removed to hold a printer, or added to store and charge more laptops. This gives schools capacity if they purchase more laptops in the future, because they do not have the budget to purchase all of their equipment at the time that they purchase their trolley. Modules also come fitted with a power saving system as standard that shuts down the power to laptops once they have been fully charged, helping to save energy, protect battery life and reduce costs because laptops should not need to be replaced as often.

Investing in upgradeable laptop charging trolleys can clearly save schools money when their laptops need to be replaced, but sustainable ICT can also help reduce costs by giving life to a school's older laptops. Charging devices that can charge and power laptops from a single desk location enable schools to utilise laptops with 'dead' batteries that can no longer hold charge. Such sustainable devices permit schools to carry on using their existing equipment, rather than spend money on purchasing new machines or batteries, and come with preconfigured charging leads so that cables do not litter the floor and create a dangerous trip hazard.

Although reviving old laptops can prevent schools having to purchase additional equipment, laptops are not the only way to deliver sustainable ICT to students. Desking solutions that provide a PC experience for up to six users through just one CPU use up to 80 per cent less energy than an equivalent number of PCs. Reducing energy consumption enables schools to lower their electricity bills and their carbon footprint, making desking solutions sustainable in terms of budgets and the environment. With funding for school ICT projects still uncertain, investing in sustainable computer equipment can ensure that schools can continue to deliver effective ICT for years to come. Selecting upgradeable, quality and well built ICT products can make all the difference, and schools would benefit from focusing on sustainability when making purchasing decisions.

Confused On Which Application Monitoring System to Buy

Majority of enterprises use some type of network monitoring system to monitor their IT infrastructure. A superior network monitoring system will track tools for uptime, bandwidth usage and track end-to-end system performance. While this type of monitoring solution is useful when issues occur on the network it doesn't help when there is any issue with any application. IT organizations require multiple applications to support their entire business. Having the devices in place to monitor these applications is a life saver when things go wrong. Let's have a closer look why application monitoring systems are required and what are the available application monitoring solutions.

Why Application Monitoring Required

Application monitoring tools track those applications which are not functioning properly, even if users are able to access it. For instance, all of a sudden your users cannot access email. A monitoring system will notify you or send an alert on a dashboard that a service is not working. Being able to rapidly identify troubles with organizations applications will allow the smooth functioning of the IT system and at the same time deliver better services to the users.

End to end application monitoring will offer you a quick overview of your applications, trend reports, performance analysis and identify growth areas. All these information is necessary when it comes to planning, addressing SLA's and fixing troubles before it cause major outages.

Solutions for Monitoring Application Performance

There is a wide variety of options to choose from, when it comes to finding an application monitoring solution. It entirely depends on your needs. There are standalone applications for monitoring single systems and there are enterprise monitoring solutions that can monitor multiple systems on your network. Open source applications and commercial applications are also available. Some features that you should look for before determining what best fits your needs are:

Performance Management: You should look for a product that offers a lot of monitoring parameters for instance, CPU, response time, memory etc.

Web Console: Ensure that you are able to access the console from a browser as it is the easiest way to manage applications.

Alerting System: Look for different type of alarms as per your requirements. Email alerting, syslog, SMB traps, text message are some of the alerting types.

Administration Roles: Look for different roles such as administrator, manager, operator, user, etc.

Reporting: Having a strong reporting system helps to determine trends and potential issues.

These are just a few basic features to look for. Majority of application monitoring solutions provide a long list of features.

Don't skip out on monitoring your organization's applications. A real time monitoring solution can be a life saver and maintain the smooth functioning of your IT infrastructure.

How the Times Have Changed Technologically

I was travelling to office from my home at Mumbai. I took an AC bus for the extra comfort. The bus usually crowded was surprising almost empty at this hour. As I entered and moved ahead towards my seat, I saw a little kid [probably around 10 yrs old] holding a book-like thing and fiddling with it. On a closer look, I realized that was not a book...IT WAS AN IPAD!! A 10 year old kid playing on an iPad! How the times have changed I thought. . .

Thinking about it, its so true. They say times were much simpler when Orange and BlackBerry where just fruits We have come such a long way, from when the cell phone was of the size of a cordless phone and belonged only to the elite to a time when a device worth more than a phone is easily handled by a kid! One of the 1st cell phones!

I still remember the times when the cell phone had arrived in India. People were charged for incoming calls as well back then. Outgoing call rates were high and you had to think whether you actually need to make the call before you make one. The phone was one of the 1st cell phones almost too big to fit in a pocket. Touch would only refer to the human sensation back then. Nowadays Touch means HTC Wildfire, Nokia 5800, Sony Xperia etc. Another ancient device was the Pager! Which has been conveniently replaced by SMS in mobile phones and Tweets on the Internet!

Times have changed from the monitory standpoint as well. Salaries in the 1970s would range from a few hundreds to 1 or 2 grand. A salary figure in thousands would clearly signify richness. There wasn't modern technology back then. Life wasn't simple, work wise. But wasn't it much more simpler. . .life wise? A small family, a daily job, an income to sustain the family, having dinner with the family being close to you family and relatives. Being a child and playing outdoors, running around and having fun.

What if you could escape everything and go back? Maybe the 70s is too old to go back. But what about your childhood. The times when the most of us were the happiest. School sucked yes, but we dint have so many worries and responsibilities back then. Technology wasn't much used then as it is now. What if you could forget you work troubles, the tension of deadlines, the pressure of submissions, the worry of payscale and the absence of job satisfaction. . . and go back to those times. Maybe only for a day, would you go back to the simple life so void of technology. Would you survive a day without email, without instant messaging, without your quadcore proc PC or without your 7 inch touch tablet. All these things wouldn't be there, but would you really miss it? What would rather have: enjoy the advances of technology at your fingertips OR enjoy the simplicity of childhood. . .I think I'd gladly choose the latter. The times have changed and I wanna go back!

Sometimes I wonder, technology is moving ahead so fast and new devices are being made existing ones are getting smaller with added functionality.

Technology will never stop. We shall keep growing old with the simultaneous advent of new technology. And soon enough we''ll be too old to enjoy it. Kids then, would be so advanced, with all the gadgets they'd have and the new ones they'd get. And for some reason, stupid or not it worries me about how I'd feel when that happens when a kid would use new technology and rub it in cause I'd be too old to be able to use the same. . . How would you feel?

SIP Trunking Providers And Their Benefits Over Normal Service Providers

SIP trunking providers are creating a new niche market, are you or your business cashing in on this amazing offer? The SIP Trunking is a type of protocol that is used for voice over internet telephony. There are many advantages to having this type of service compared to normal ordinary circuit based phone calls. This type of system is meant to replace your normal conventional telephones services.

There are many different Internet Telephony Service Providers, but they all connect to the same internet to bring you or your business your telephone service. While this seems like a great idea, and it is, there can be small issues that arise if the provider or yourself does not create two separate lines, one for normal data service, and the other for your basic telephone line utilizing the VoIP internet service. But this is as simple as adding more connections to your residence or business, one for data lines, and other lines for voice connections.

The addition of this system alone may seem like a huge expense incurred, but when you outweigh the benefits of being charged less each and every month for the exact same service that was provided before, it is easy to switch. Imagine never having to pay for long distance charges, per minute fees, and any other fees that your local service wants to charge you.

Now imagine getting the same service, the many different upgraded features that you are used to, such as voicemail, call forwarding, call waiting and even unlimited calling. Does this not seem like the best idea you have ever heard or read before.

The switch to a SIP Trunking Provider is easy, because if you are already reading this, you have an internet connection that is hooked up to the same network that will be using the same connection for your phone line. All that it takes is a simple search for a SIP Trunking Provider.

In the end, the benefits will more than make up for the initial charges to install this great system. The cost effectiveness of utilizing this new service is going to allow you to save more money on this monthly expense after the first few months to more than pay off the expense that is incurred from this install.

SIP calls are far less expensive than those made from normal phone lines. Another great benefit to you and your client is the crisp clarity that will emanate from your phone receiver to their phone speaker. The only downfall to this option is that a really good connection is a necessity to using this amazing service. If your internet is rather slow with data, you may need to upgrade your service to maximize your abilities for data and voice.

How to Choose a VPN Service

Do you know that you have no privacy when you go online? It doesn't matter what anti-virus you have, whether free or paid, or if you have your firewall protection on, the data you send when you are using the internet can be accessed by third party individuals. What you need to have is the protection of a virtual private network or VPN. I am pretty sure you have heard of it before, because there are a lot of VPN service providers available in the market. The big question is which one is the best? Of course when we are talking about online privacy protection, only the best is good enough.

However, being the 'best' varies, and depends on the needs of each individual. For example, your work takes you often to countries abroad where you are blocked from accessing online TV channels such as Fox, NBC, ABC, HULU, and BBC. You are not comfortable with this scenario and want the freedom to be able to watch shows on the said channels; you will need a VPN service provider that offers the best plans for this type of use. Other individuals prioritize surfing anonymously on the web, so they require a provider that has excellent services with regard to hiding their IPs for them to be satisfied.

In general, though, these criteria should be carefully checked before you choose your VPN service provider. They should be the basis on whether or not they are a good VPN company or not.

Check the location of their available servers. When you go online, the IP address that will appear to websites you visit is the IP address of your VPN provider. Websites that have restricted access only to specific areas can be visited by you through your VPN's IP.

Who wants to wait while the webpage loads for a long time? The answer is none. So, make sure that you confirm the speed of the VPN connection you are signing up with.

Ensure that the set-up process of the VPN account is not complicated. There are providers that email you an easy step by step process, which is what you should look for.

Try to read reviews about VPN providers' reliability. Whether a provider's reliable or not depends on the stability of the connection, if there are down times and the number of times it happens.

Last but not the least, check for the price. Is it affordable? Is the price reasonable for the service they provide? Remember, not because a provider offers high prices doesn't necessarily mean they offer the best service. See if a company passes all the criteria I mentioned above. If it does and the price it offers is quite cheap, then you found yourself a perfect VPN service provider.

Facts About VPN Tunneling

VPN Tunnels are safe secure lines in which the client can send and receive data through a public network or the internet. With this, the tunnel functions like a subway network transporting from one point to another, physically in different places, thus having a safe encrypted connection between them, in the midst of the public traffic.

The management protocol included in the software serves as the gate keeper, opening and closing the tunnel upon the VPN client's request. Sending information through the tunnel requires a datagram based protocol ensuring both end points has the same parameters (Similar IP address, data encryption and compression). In establishing the virtual link, the data is then encoded or encrypted before being transmitted through the tunnel, received on the other end, and finally being deciphered.

Tunnels have different types; a compulsory tunnel is managed by a network carrier. This in turn establishes the authenticating, and associating them with the virtual private network server. IPSec's ability to securely move data across the internet treating them as cargo for delivery, with this the VPN gateway functions more like a parcel service, packaging and writing the address where the data is to be delivered to the recipient's end.

There are 3 protocols in which a remote access VPN can use. The first one is the (PPTP) or Point to point tunneling protocol, the (L2TP) or Layer 2 tunneling protocol and the (L2F) or Layer 2 forwarding. These protocols are developed by Cisco and Microsoft led consortium and the IETF, these also provide different authentication schemes and supports PPP and 40-bit or 128-bit encryption, IPSec for more portability use with the combinations of best features of PPTP and L2F.

Virtual private networks and tunnel applications guarantees safe encrypted transfers through the internet with the secure line to and from different points for VPN clients maintaining safety and avoids snooping. The Benefits Of Using Hosted PBX Systems

Hosted PBX systems are defined as a special type of IP phone system that can either be rented or leased on a month to month or annual basis. By employing the use of this type of system, many businesses are able to eliminate the expense of having to purchase expensive equipment for their business operations. In fact, most providers that host this type of service, will usually include all of the additional equipment that your business may need right along with your purchase of their services.

The outsourced company that you decide to employ for your IP phone system will be responsible for routing all of your phone calls over to your company's websites or other sites that your business may be affiliated with. There are a lot of benefits that companies can experience when they employ the use of one of these systems within their business headquarters. Of course, one of the primary advantages of this type of system is the fact that it is extremely cost effective.

The term PBX, is actually an acronym that is used in place of the term Private Branch exchange. What this exchange is referring to is a computerized switching system that easily manages calls that occur amongst internal and local users. The program actually works the same way that a traditional phone line works; expect there is no internal line connected to an outsourced phone line.

The entire system is plugged directly into your computer. In some cases, a host may feed off of an internet signal in order to connect your phone to the outside world. Despite how the system has to be hooked up, one of the primary things that businesses tend to be concerned about when it comes to employing a brand new phone system for their businesses is the effectiveness of the product overall.

Not only can utilizing hosted PBX systems within the barriers of your business help you decrease the amount of funds that you are paying in operation costs, but it is also relatively easy to use or fix if a problem should arise. Residential phone systems are used strictly for residential areas; therefore it seems fairly odd to try to employ the use of a residential system inside of the barriers of your business.

With one of these specially designed hosted systems you will be able to receive incoming calls, make outgoing calls, transfer phone calls to their designated parties, and connect any calls that you do not want to answer over to an answering service. These new computerized systems are helping to keep overhead costs down and improve the overall efficiency of businesses that rely on a constant phone line to keep their businesses operational.

One of the most predominant places where the hosted PBX systems are employed is within call center environments. Since most call centers have to deal with a massive amount of outgoing and incoming phone calls on a daily basis, employers need a system in place that is going to assist them with their overload.

By obtaining a hosted phone line, you will be able to receive and transfer calls with haste. By having a system installed, you can help increase the productivity of your employees and reduce holding times for your consumers.

Open Source Software Is Not Free

Open source is a term associated with free, meaning completely without cost or obligation. Under certain circumstances open software is free in that way. Using open software for a not-for-profit animal shelter or a 'jog for diabetes' website is completely free but those are exceptions rather than the rule. Often when companies are looking for software to run their for-profit company they find open source software and think, ahha! here is a way to bypass the cost of developing our own software or buying a commercial license, we can use this for free. That is a misunderstanding of the open software's purpose and ultimately any time or money that is invested is misguided.

Open source is primarily a solution for companies or corporations which are nonprofit or are educational and are not strictly a commercial venture. Other educational purposes such as teaching programmers how to program, is another main focus of the open software movement.

A commercial project technically might be allowed under a particular open license but, in itself is not an ethically sound use of open source software. An application which was written by people for free on their own time for use by non-profits is not ethically or legally allowed to be used by a for-profit corporation which is just trying to avoid paying for it's own software. Open software can be used for a commercial purpose if the owners agree to putting some money back into the development of the software.

Commercial projects may indeed be allowed according to a particular license and a quick glance over the terms may seem to allow it but open source projects are not appropriate for several different reasons:

Complexity

Open source projects are often developed over many years and have dozens or hundreds or even thousands of developers during the span of development and if a problem arises, often current developers shrug, because knowing why something happens is simply not possible. Without that coherence of developing the application in a development environment using relatively the same methods, working on solutions to problems is challenging to even the most capable of developers.

License

Laws are defined and enforced by geographic region and they may not be interpreted the same in different locations. Laws of one country may not be recognized by other countries.

Ethics

Sometimes ethics seem to be a frivolous topic without strict enforcement in the real world and to do wrong is a personal ethical choice. In this case, the people who are in charge of a project may disagree with your ethics and choose to let you know through technical, financial or legal means.

Disputes

According to copyright law, even though you may own the application and have put in quite a lot of time and money and are doing your own development and customizing what was created by other people; the problem is that you are now open to ownership disputes.

If a commercial project were ever to become very successful, another Facebook or MySpace and a lot of money were involved, there would be ownership disputes. Someone who worked on the project years ago could just allege that they have a stake in the company and the line of claimants may disappear into the horizon.

Even if their allegations are completely frivolous, a for-profit company would not want to open itself up to the possibility of that sort of dispute. That is the main reason why a company would choose to develop their own software from the ground up under contract with the developer rather than using an open source project. The problem of the lack of forethought on a company's part or the misunderstanding of the nature of open source is a challenge being faced both by for-profit companies and the open community as well.

One way to think about it is to compare open source to the way we think about Public Television in America. Public TV and Radio are now no longer Government funded so they have to find money from the audience who appreciate their non-profit projects. Even though their programs were developed for the public, they must still ask the audience for financial support for ongoing development. In order to justify any commercial use of open source software there has got to be financial support which comes back from the use of the product, even under an open source license whereas that is not the case with truly non-profit projects.

The Facts On Jitterbug Phones

If you've ever taken a look at some of the cell phones on the market today and wondered how long it takes to work it, the Jitterbug phone might be just what you need. Jitterbug built a reputation for themselves as the go to company for simple cell phones but if you want to get more fancy you can add options like Bluetooth.

With large, easy to read buttons the Jitterbug is uncomplicated and made with the senior in mind. You can clip the phone to your shirt and use the speakerphone or even set it on the table since it has an extra loud loudspeaker that's great for people who find it tough to use a cell phone in a noisy environment.

On the customer service end of things, previous customers considered their experience to be positive, but of course you can't please everyone. If you live in a wooded area, you might have some issues with cell signal reception, which is actually one of the biggest complaints and something to keep in mind before purchasing. To be fair, this would be an issue with any cell phone and not just the Jitterbug. Again, customers are usually very happy with their phones.

If you look at the Jitterbug, you'll notice that it has a Yes and a No button- this is how easy it is to use this phone. There's no worries with finding a particular screen just to make a phone call with these. Another button is used for your contacts, of which you can store up to 50. And, of course, there are the numbers on the keypad that you're used to using. One thing that people really tend to like is that when you pick up the Jitterbug phone you will actually hear a dial tone- personally, I think this is a terrific idea and should be on all phones!

If you're looking to get value, the Jitterbug phone is great here too. There's no contract to sign up for- you simply pay a monthly fee of 15 dollars for 50 minutes per month (more minutes are available, this is just the starter package). If you don't use the minutes, you don't get charged for them- it's that simple.

If you do have trouble using your phone or have questions, you can actually speak to a live operator who can guide you. How nice that if you have an issue you can simply get someone to help you on the spot. Of course, there's nothing free and using this service will use up about five of your minutes. If it comes right down to it, the operator can even just dial the call for you- if you're using up the minutes, you might as well have them complete the call for you. Basically, you're never alone with one of these phones.

Amazon carries these phones in a variety of colors as well as other reputable online retailers. The excellent money back guarantee as well as top notch customer service makes Amazon the obvious choice. Heck, you can even get free shipping on certain models.

Underneath this article is my resource box - click the link there to go to my Jitterbug phone website where you can find all the information you could want and even purchase through Amazon.

Meet Google TV

The internet is just like peanut butter. It's amazing, addictive, and at its best when it's combined with other great things. The internet and mobile phone technology have come together like PB and J, and it's definitely a combination that's here to stay.

But today we're going to talk about a new winning duo featuring the internet. Peanut butter and Fluff, if you will. And the Fluff is TV.

Search Your TV...

Channel surfing is a big waste of time. Can you imagine if the internet was set up like TV is, and you had to flip from website to website or scroll down a "guide" screen until you came across something interesting? Finding what you're looking for would be frustrating and time consuming, and web surfing just wouldn't be as fun.

But now picture life the other way around. Imagine that TV was like the internet, and a search engine was built into your TV. Think about how convenient it would be to search the TV for programming that meets your criteria. Yeah, that's more like it. And that's what Google has done with their Google TV setup.

And Merge It With the Internet

But that's just the beginning. Google TV also takes the entire internet and makes it available on your TV. So while you're searching your TV for the best show, you can also search the internet for related articles. And while you're watching the game, you can look up stats and sports blogs. Google TV takes two independent entertainment and information worlds and fuses them into one awesome phenomenon.

How It's Going So Far

Google TV is designed to work on special TVs or on existing TVs paired with a special box. Since Google TV enabled devices launched in the fall, Google TV has met some mixed reviews. Like any technology that sounds great in theory, it seems that there are kinks to be worked out now that people are actually using it. But between Google TV itself and its competitors such as Apple TV, it's likely that web-enabled TV is going to grow.

Smile! Your Site is on TV!

What that means for you is a) make sure you set aside some TV time in your daily schedule and b) make sure your website is where you want it to be. Whether your targets prefer PB and J, peanut butter and Fluff, or peanut butter straight up, having the right web presence is one of the best ways to nourish your business.

Cloud Computing Clarified

"If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough." - Albert Einstein
The methods we use to communicate and manage information continue to develop and evolve - to the extent that often they surpass our level of understanding as to what they are? - or how and why they work? Cloud computing seems to fall into this category and remains confusing to so many - and not yet understood well enough to convince us to trust them with 'taking over' functions that we are used to managing ourselves, and are more or less tangible to us. Most want to understand and know more about its purpose and benefits. To the tech- savvy readers, please bear with my language as we are clearly the minority here.

Why is it being introduced as an innovative alternative to the conventional, limited, local machine / application based processes of accessing programs and performing daily functions that rely on installed software physically running on our PCs? It is a shift in how applications and services are distributed and accessed in comparison to what we have been used to. Look at it as "software as a service" (or Saas) as it is known - as opposed to software you're used to downloading and installing. In other words, all our stuff is being made available out there - on the web - instead of in here, on our machines. The cloud is another word for all your stuff and where it's located and managed.

People tend to interpret the cloud to mean many different things - and so it actually is many different things, as it offers many different solutions for many different challenges. Put simply, the cloud is a lot like the server which handles your internet, email, and online activities. Yea, it's a modified version of a data center in a climate controlled secure facility. We may as well start paying attention and get familiar with it because 'The Cloud' is here to stay, we're being told. Its potential lies far beyond the basic definitions and applications mentioned in this article.

"The concept of cloud computing, at its core, represents major shifts for companies and service providers from internally to externally, from tethered to portable, from physical security to virtual security, from siloed to pooled," explains Don Norbeck, director of Product Strategy at SunGard.

Cloud computing is a comprehensive and flexible platform capable of hosting everything we typically need and use on a daily basis: email, social networking mediums, storage hardware / data resources, software and programs including internet security and even full operating systems - all fully automated and accessed through 'The Cloud' by your chosen provider (or browser). It is a necessary solution being developed in response to unpredictable economics and the need to scale down costs of personel, and multiple physical resources that require manual oversight.

The Cloud is cheaper, quicker, easier (lighter) on resource usage, and far more efficient in performance and functionality. There is little or no installation, less third party dependency, no actual IT as it is completely integrated and configured by large scale, strategic, centralized and standardized server installations. Also, this represents a natural progression of technological innovations with the increased popularity of mobile devices in use.

Your email account is a classic example of how cloud computing works. It is capable of managing an infinite number of users, accounts, the tools they require, performance standards, etc... all preconfigured, integrated, and managed through automation - and at little or no cost at all.

In addition there are internal, external, and hybrid variations of the cloud. The internal cloud refers to an in-house, or on site cloud, where data and peripherals are stored locally. The external cloud refers to all the virtual functionality and applications hosted externally on your server (in the clouds). And a hybrid is the confusing idea of an internal cloud being managed in-house - but existing externally in the cloud. Clear as mud, huh.

The Cloud sounds very appealing. But creates as much intrigue as it does skepticism, as it is still very new and unfamiliar. There are many questions and concerns regarding security, off- site data management, and the necessary oversight involved. Who is responsible for maintaining this alleged superior functionality and security? Or, who exactly has hands on access to our entrusted intellectual property in the cloud? It is redefining our understanding of the term "virtual."

Just as there are so many questions, there are equally as many answers, as the cloud's capacity and potential is being developed and configured to accommodate any requirements that a client may find a need for. Volumes of books and literature are being highly consumed as more and more people, businesses and developers are looking to adapt to and function within the new trend and better understand this innovation in the way we manage our computing environment.

Basically this brings us right back where we started. Cloud computing is open to interpretation, and its applications seem to be infinite. Only now we might be left with the question of what it can't do? Maybe it is most accurately defined by what it is not - at least not yet. So for now - the cloud is a modified server capable of performing more and more functions that we are typically used to managing ourselves.

Helium Neon Laser Basics

A Helium neon laser refers to a kind of gas laser with a gain medium consisting of a mix of neon and helium inside bore capillary tubes, generally excited through the discharge of DC electric current. Also called a He Ne laser, it is used for several purposes, primarily industrial usage.

The first lasers

The very first helium neon lasers had an emission at around 1.15 µm in infrared and were the very first examples of gas lasers. However lasers which functioned at a visible wavelength found favor with a larger number of people, numerous other neon related transitions were researched upon for identifying the ones wherein population inversion could be achieved. As it is, 633 nm had the biggest gain in the visible spectrum, thereby making it the preferred wavelength for most helium neon lasers that were manufactured. However there are other infrared and visible lasing wavelengths that are possible. By making use of a mirror coating with the peak reflectance of the other wavelengths, helium neon lasers can be engineered for using those transitions. Thereby we get visible lasers in red, orange, green and yellow colors.

The lasing transitions

Lasing transitions may range from 100 µm in far infra-red to around 540 nm in visible. Now, since the visible transition at other wavelengths than 633 nm does not have higher gain, such lasers usually have low output powers. Moreover, these are more expensive too. The best and the most popular helium neon laser functions at a 632.8 nm wavelength in the red portion of a visible spectrum.

The gas mixture

The mix of neon and helium gases is in a ratio of approximately 10:1, and is contained at lower pressure within glass envelopes. The energy source of a laser is through the high voltage discharge of electricity that is passed through gas between the electrodes within the tubes. 3 to 20 mA DC current is usually needed for the CW operation. The optical cavity of a laser generally features 2 concave mirrors. It may also feature one concave and one plane mirror, with one having high reflectance while an output-coupler mirror allows approximately one per cent transmission. Gain bandwidth in He Ne lasers is dominated by the Doppler broadening instead of pressure broadening because of lower gas pressure, which makes it quite narrow.

Several industrial and scientific uses

As it is, the helium neon laser has several industrial as well as scientific uses. Such lasers are broadly used for laboratory demonstration in optical research or study because of the comparatively lower cost as well as ease of operation. A consumers application of the red helium neon laser is the laser disc player, by Pioneer. In this device a laser is used for reading the optical disks.

iPhone 5 Pictures - Real or Phony?

Ever since the iPhone was launched on the Verizon network, users are already thinking about the next substantial release of the iPhone 5. It seems that everyday you will find different rumors circulating about what might be included in this latest edition. From the sensible to the absurd, I will discuss each function that you could find when the iPhone 5 is released later this year.

Despite any official reports, iPhone 5 pictures are floating around displaying some of the new features that might be available on the new version. From the realistic to the absurd, each potential update will be discussed further so you can make a decision on whether you need the newest model or simply want to get a great deal on an older iPhone.

The design itself is most likely to stay the same with minor aesthetic changes, however there are rumors that the new model may look similar to the iPad with rounded edges and a metallic backplate. This also might allow for a thinner, more ergonomic device.

The one feature that is a certainty is a white model, in addition to the original black iPhone. Apple has introduced a white model for the iPhone 4, so it should come as no surprise that the iPhone 5 will come in two varieties as well.

Given the added processing capabilities of smartphones, the iPhone 5 should contain an HDMI port so that you can connect to other high-definition devices and televisions. Whether you want to show a friend a YouTube video or home photos, it is a must-have feature in this day and age.

Several consumers have asked for a physical keyboard which slides out, but this is one thing that I do not expect to come to fruition when the official release date is announced. The iPhone was the first smartphone that used a virtual touchscreen keyboard and unless there are serious accessibility issues I do not anticipate any changes on the iPhone 5.

While Apple has a large consumer base, the iPhone 5 could help to expand its market by including a model that does not come with internal storage. This would allow them to reduce the price and have the user buy an external memory card in order to store more data. Considering that the price of disk space gets lower every single day, it would be wise for Apple to leave this up to the consumer so that they can focus on marketing to a broader range of people.

The most significant truth buyers want to know is when will the ultra-modern iPhone ultimately be for sale. While some people were planning on a summertime release, it appears that the iPhone 5 will ultimately be introduced in the autumn of 2011. I would foresee genuine iPhone 5 pictures to be leaked sometime in the next month or two to get buyers enthusiastic about precisely what is in the near future.

Laptop That Makes Your Entertainment Experience Richer

A Laptop is a scaled down version of a Personal Computer or PC and are also called notebooks. Laptops are used for variety of purposes ranging from editing text, photos, to satisfying your gaming needs, editing movies and so on. Nowadays laptops come with several configurations in order to suit the people who use it. For e.g. we can choose laptops based on which type of user we are, be it students or business executives, gamers, home/office users etc.

As entertainment is the major factor for your laptop needs, it is important that you buy a laptop having a High Definition screen or display. It helps in making the screen livelier and it will give you much pleasure using it. Another factor is the processing speed and it plays an important role too. The latest Intel Core i5 and i7 processors are used in high end laptops as they offer perfect blend of power and great performance along with support for High definition video playback and graphics. Many entertainment laptops feature high definition audio output and some of the notable names in laptop audio are Harman Kardon and JBL.

If your laptop has a minimum of 4 GB memory capacity, it will help the applications to run butter smooth on your machine. The higher the graphical prowess of the machine, the better will you be able to execute heavy tasks such as video editing, playing high end games etc. Windows 7 and Mac OSX leopard are the two operating systems which are mostly used in laptops with the latter used exclusively on Apple notebooks. Both operating systems are very fast, responsive, multitasking optimized and are very user friendly.

What good is your laptop if it has a paltry battery life which is only good for few hours' usage before it drains out of power? So it is better to enquire about the battery backup provided by the laptop before making the final decision. Also, it will be worth your buck to purchase an additional battery for your device.

Last but not the least comes the connectivity options which includes USB connectivity (latest USB 3.0 ports provides transfer speed of up to 5 GB per second!), Wireless Connectivity, Ethernet Connectivity, HDMI ports, Card Reader etc. An ideal multimedia powerhouse should have all these features along with attractive price tag for the whole package. Pricing is a factor which is given much importance these days because laptops with attractive prices are bought by most people whereas overpriced laptops are rejected.

Many laptop brands such as Dell, Toshiba, offer easy customization of the laptop according to one's needs. It is an exciting prospect which enables customers to buy laptops according to their own requirements.

Some of the best multimedia powerhouses available now are: Acer Aspire 5943G - 5464G50BNSS, Apple MacBook, Samsung RF510.

source: http://EzineArticles.com/6139509

The Helium Neon Laser - Excellent for Commercial Purposes

The helium neon laser is a gas laser which has a gain medium of a helium and neon mixture. This mixture is placed inside a capillary tube of small bore and the mixture is excited by an electrical discharge of direct current. Typical He Ne lasers which are used at a commercial level are small when compared to other gas lasers. It has 3 components: the laser tube, the power supply and the packaging. The power supply is a high voltage supply.

Many scientific and industrial uses

There are many scientific and industrial uses of these red He Ne lasers. They are used in laboratories for demonstration in optics. These lasers are easy to operate and are available at low cost and this is why they are popular over other visible lasers. This laser is also used in the device which is used for reading the optical disk.

First to be used commercially

These lasers were the first to be used with commercial applications of broadband as they could be easily adjusted for generating a visible red beam. Visible infra-red beams can be easily used for projecting straight lines for surveying, alignment, irrigation and construction. Surveyors use this for taking precise readings from distances especially when some terrains are inaccessible. Eye surgeons also started using this laser for welding detached retinas without making an incision in the eye.

Where they are used today

You can also see the use of the helium neon laser in physics laboratories but they need to be handled with a lot of care. He Ne lasers are found in bar code readers. They are used in surgery for positioning infrared cutting beams. These are also widely used in holography. Holography is a technique to record light scattered from any object. This recorded light is used for reconstructing images.

Can work in green or red

This laser is too bright and it may affect your eyes if you stare at it directly. It is constructed to work in red at about 632.8 nm and it can be constructed to operate in green at about 543.5 nm and at 1523 nm in infrared. Its design is quite simple when compared to the modern standards and there are only 3 components. This operates by stimulated emission and amplification of light. Just because it is so inexpensive and it has so many advantages, it is widely used in industries and in research.

Not the most powerful

This laser is certainly not the most powerful laser and they are not even as efficient as other lasers but they still have the advantage that it has the ability of emitting a beam of good quality and it can emit visible light. Other lasers are 10 times more efficient than the helium neon laser but they cannot emit visible light with as much efficiency. He Ne lasers also don't need any consumables like cryogenic gases or sapphire rods and as they do not generate too much heat, there is no need for cooling devices. The beam quality is good and the beam stays focused even at long distances. This is why the commercial use of He Ne lasers is increasing gradually.

Security Surveillance Systems - How They Can Save You Money

Security surveillance systems in a home or business can provide more than just peace of mind, they can also potentially save you hundreds of dollars in insurance costs each year. Not only do security surveillance systems using cameras act as a deterrent to would-be criminals, but they also lead to a higher likelihood of perpetrators being caught if they do target your home.

Why the Discount?
Because security systems and camera surveillance tends to lower the risk of home intrusions, many insurance companies are willing to reward families and business owners for adding the additional level of safety. Information reported by the Insurance Information Institute, home burglaries accounted for 73 percent of all burglary offenses in 2009, according to the FBI.

Video surveillance also gives authorities information that can more easily lead to arrests and the recovery of stolen property in the event of a burglary, which also lowers the amount insurers must pay in the event of a claim.

How Much Can You Save?
According to MSN Money, the right combination of security and camera safety equipment could end up saving you between 15 and 20 percent on homeowner's insurance.

So if, for example, a homeowner pays $1,000 annually to insure a home worth $200,000, the savings could amount to $200 per year. It doesn't take long for the insurance savings alone to make up for the cost of a quality security surveillance system.

The Burden and Benefit of Proof
Cameras and security surveillance also provide some additional benefits when it comes to insuring a home or business. If your home or business is burglarized or damaged in a natural disaster, you'll typically be required by the insurance company to provide a detailed inventory of any damaged or stolen items. Video footage is a valuable way of determining the exact loss and proving the extent of the loss to the insurance company so you can be reimbursed for the loss more quickly and fully.

Think safety when you have someone on your property uninvited or either doing work for you who may report an accident you did not witness. You have the proof with the proper security surveillance system in place.

If you're thinking about adding or upgrading a security surveillance system, it's often best to check with your insurance company for recommendations on which systems or combinations of equipment will earn you the best discount. You may want to recommend a system you have researched or offer information to your insurance provider on hidden cameras surveillance if they have not studied your situation.

Dell Studio 17 Is the Right Laptop for You

If you are fond of Dell laptops and you are planning to buy one too, we have this great option for you that you must give a look before you finalize things. Dell Studio 17 is the one we are talking about here because it is reaching heights, at least in terms of popularity, but how far it goes in terms of performance and efficiency is still to be seen.

Starting with the configuration, which supposedly is the foremost thing to look in a device like this: the first thing you should know is that the Dell Studio 17 comes with the Intel 2.6 GHz Core2 Duo processor to give it the right speed and the maximum height of functioning. The operational level of this device is taken above by the 3 GB RAM which is upgradeable up to 4 GB. Moreover, a 250 GB hard disk drive has been integrated in this device to keep the software of the gadget away from problems. Although, while scrutinizing the Dell laptops reviews, we have found out that the laptops from Inspiron series have higher capacity hard disk drive which goes up to 500 GB. So, that's kind of a drawback of this laptop, but never mind there are many more things to be glad about.

The 17-inch display with a resolution of 1440 x 900 dpi is a thing worth appreciation because the Inspiron laptops possess screen with lesser resolution. And the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 integrated in the device has made the resolution's effect even better. Gaming is huge fun in this laptop as well as watching movies in it would be an experience out of the world. To enhance the experience rather more, the laptop holds video card, sound card, Touchpad mouse and inbuilt speakers.

For the transfer of files and sharing data with your friends the device arrives with interfaces like Express Card slot, 5 USB ports, fire wire port, Bluetooth, infrared port and a 8 in 1 digital media reader. The Origin of the Projector

Ever wonder how the projector was created? This core piece of audiovisual technology has evolved dramatically through the years - let's now take a look at its interesting historical beginnings.

The following is a timeline of the evolution of today's projector.

First came the camera obscura, dating as far back as the late first century, and essentially consisting of a box with a tiny hole on one side and an angled mirror on the other. As light was shone from an external scene through the hole, the image was reverted and projected onto paper. This was originally used for tracing and drawing purposes, but the invention later led to the development of photography.

Much later, in the mid-sixteenth century, came the "magic lantern," an improvement over the camera obscura in that it could project images onto a screen. This invention was one of the predecessors to the invention of moving pictures.

Next came the opaque projector, the predecessor to today's overhead projector. This device would shine a bright light onto an opaque image, after which a system of mirrors, prisms and lenses would focus the image onto a larger viewing screen.

If you were born prior to last decade and you think back to your early school days, you may recall a device known as an "overhead projector." This device was first used for police identification work. As World War II drew to a close, the U.S. Army began to use overhead projectors for training, and the device was manufactured by 3M for later use in schools and companies during the 1950s and 60s. Overhead projectors project transparent and translucent images.

Improvements emerged when Buhl Industries (founded in 1953) created a number of optical refinements, and in 1957, the Federal Aid to Education program caused a growth in overhead sales, which continued through the late 1990s.

During the 1980s, LCD technology entered the education scene, further improving the audiovisual result of overhead projection. What began as a monochromatic, black-and-white imagery soon improved to color and improved focus, brightness and clarity.

Next, the slide projector followed, which became wildly popular during the 1950s through 1970s. With this device, photographic slides could be projected onto any wall or smooth surface.

The movie projector is based on the idea that the human brain holds an image for a fraction of a second before processing the next image. The original film projectors used single images printed onto film, but the film was projected at a speed such that it tricked the human eye into seeing motion, where in reality, only still frames existed.

Today, we rely on LCD and DLP technology as the gold standards for projectors. One can only wonder where the future will take us next.

Bandwidth Monitor - The Need

Why Bandwidth Monitoring?

A network is the binding force that integrates different entities of a business, which is spread out, into one single powerful unit. With the (r)evolution of the Internet, there has been a sea change in the way business is conducted and networks have a huge impact in the functioning of the business. The functioning of these networks largely depends on bandwidth. Proper bandwidth management guarantees proper network management. In order to ensure smooth functioning of the business activities in a company, an effective bandwidth monitoring tool could greatly help in meeting this requisite.

With the advent of social networking and video streaming websites, there has been a surge in bandwidth usage patterns. This has been significant in the need for a Bandwidth Monitor, in order to ensure that business-critical applications get top priority. With a proper Bandwidth Monitoring tool, it becomes easy to pull out irrelevant applications and minimize the bandwidth usage for applications, that are not required to run on the business network. Here are some features of a bandwidth monitoring tool:

Traffic monitoringTraffic forensicsApplication mappingExtracting Top talkers informationTraffic reporting

Traffic could be monitored in a network with the help of a technology where information about bandwidth usage patterns could be derived by monitoring the flow in the network. With flow information, one could arrive at a lot of logical conclusions about the network and tune the extent of bandwidth monitoring.

Another important function of the tool is to drill down to drill down to the details of a particular interface alone for more information. This feature could be used to know about the utilization, volume, speed etc. This information is valuable in fine tuning the bandwidth usage patterns in the network.

Apart from these functions, identifying the top talkers on the network and generating traffic reports are additional functions of the bandwidth monitoring tool. These traffic reports give useful information over a period of time. This information helps in studying the traffic trends in the network which in turn helps in tuning the policies to achieve optimum bandwidth usage.

Apart from these features there are also some security features that come along with some Bandwidth Monitoring tools. These security features help in identifying potential network threats and attacks such as Denial of Service attacks, which could affect performance. These are precautionary measures to prevent lost business days and troubleshooting time.

Thus, we see that, a Bandwidth Monitoring tool comes with a lot of good features and it has become an essential part of Enterprise Networks. With businesses becoming increasingly dependent on networks and growing bandwidth constraints, it is not just an add-on but a mandatory tool to ensure an efficient network.

Sai Sundhar Padmanabhan is a Marketing Analyst for ManageEngine's Netflow ANalyzer which predominantly does bandwidth monitoring. Besides merely generating bandwidth profiles, it could also be used to a lot of other purposes like monitoring Cisco's Class Bases Quality of Service(CBQoS) policies. Service providers could use it for Billing purposes as well. More information is available in the Netflow Analyzer website.

Free Computers - How To Find

How do you save yourself a considerable amount of money and end up getting the latest in computer technology? The answer is not as difficult as you might assume it to be. We will discuss methods for getting a free computer.

You can sometimes find a free computer in the newspaper. Sometimes in the classified ads as well as in the announcements section of the newspaper people will be looking to get rid of their computer. They may have just purchased a brand-new computer and don't want to deal with the hectic assignment of having to dispose of their former computer. That is where you help them out. By coming to their office or home you provide them a service and end up with their computer.

This next method I consider the beggar method. It may sound cheesy but it has worked for a lot of my friends. You probably know someone who is always getting the latest technology. Let them know that you are looking for a new computer and that when they are done with the computer that have you'll be happy to take off their hands.

Businesses and corporations are always looking to get the latest computers to run their office work. Many times these offices will allow their old computers to go to the public. So by simply visiting different office buildings you may be able to find that one of these offices is looking to get rid of some of their computers. You may even find inexpensive computer like a server is available. Don't pass up on this offer. Server computers are worth a lot of money and can be sold at a nice profit. You can use this money to then purchase a computer that is well advanced. You may also know family members who work for a company that is looking to get rid of their computers.

My favorite way of getting a free desktop or laptop computer is through websites that will actually give you a computer absolutely free. All you do is give them your address and they ship to you a brand new computer. What is really nice about this offer is it takes little effort. All you need to do is fill out a simple form and then wait for your free computer to show up at your doorstep.

These are several methods that will allow you to get a computer at no cost!

Always check the company provides excellent support in case of a breakdown or other problems. Many companies now operate around the clock and seven days a week, so you should ensure the service has a technical support hotline available at all times.

Most companies provide a delivery, installation and removal service to new clients. Many companies will also swap out a faulty system and replace it with a newer one if you have any problems, but ask the company quickly they can replace a faulty system as time can be vital to any small business.

Many countries throughout the world have good tax breaks that allow a business to write off the cost of any rental/lease payments. In some areas of the world, this can give significant benefits to a business, so always check with your tax advisor to find out the benefits.

There is a big choice of these rental services available in most large cities. Always do plenty of research before signing any agreement, and get quotes from several different firms to find the best value and service. When you start comparing the quotes, as well as the price, always look at the amount of service the company will provide and how up-to-date their systems are. When you need to use this type of service, there is more involved than just finding the cheapest price.

The benefits of using computer rental services to the business of any size is quite significant compared to buying the equipment themselves. Renting will allow anybody to keep up with the latest models and high specifications, and avoiding major capital expenses.
